Rotation angle
Custom angles add canvas padding. Use 90/180/270 for clean rotation.

GIF Rotate uses ImageMagick’s -coalesce and -rotate commands to apply your chosen angle to every frame of the animation server-side. The 90°, 180°, and 270° presets produce clean output without canvas padding — the canvas is resized automatically to fit the rotated frames. Custom angles (1–359°) introduce white padding around the rotated content because the rotated rectangle is larger than the original bounding box.
Frequently asked questions
Does rotating keep my GIF animated?
Yes. GIF Rotate applies the rotation to every frame and reassembles the animation with the original frame delays and loop count intact. Only the orientation changes.
What happens with custom angles?
Custom angles (anything other than 90°, 180°, 270°) add white padding to the canvas. This happens because the rotated rectangle no longer fits the original bounding box. Use 90°, 180°, or 270° for clean rotation without padding.
What is the maximum file size?
Up to 20 MB. Large animated GIFs with many frames may take a few extra seconds to process.
Are my files stored after rotating?
No. Files are removed from our servers within 30 minutes. We never store or share your uploaded GIFs.
Can I rotate a static (single-frame) GIF?
Yes. Static GIFs are handled exactly like animated ones — the single frame is rotated and the output is a valid GIF file.
