About Merge PDF
Combine any number of PDF files into a single document — no account, no watermark, nothing installed. Upload up to 5 PDFs, drag them into the order you want, and click Merge. Your file is processed server-side via Ghostscript and ready for download in seconds.
Unlike SaaS tools that throttle free users or require email sign-up, AT USE imposes no daily limits and stores nothing past 30 minutes. The merged PDF contains the exact content from your input files.
How to merge PDFs online
- Upload your PDFs — drop up to 5 files onto the upload zone or click Browse.
- Arrange the order — drag the handle next to each file to set the output page order.
- Click Merge PDFs. Processing happens server-side via Ghostscript.
- Download your merged file — no sign-in, no watermark, no stored data after 30 min.
Frequently asked questions
Does merging reduce the quality of images or text in my PDF?
No. Ghostscript concatenates pages without re-encoding. The image data, font data, and vector content inside each page pass through to the merged output exactly as they existed in the source file. This is different from printing to PDF (which re-rasterizes content) or using an image-based merger (which converts pages to images first). Quality is unchanged.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
Up to 5 PDFs per merge operation, each up to 20 MB. To combine more than 5 files, merge in batches: combine the first 5 into one file, then merge that result with the next batch. The tool has no limit on how many times you use it in sequence.
What if my PDFs have different page sizes?
Each page keeps its original dimensions. A US Letter page stays US Letter; an A4 page stays A4. Most PDF viewers handle mixed-size documents without issue. If you need all pages to be the same size, export or print each source PDF to a uniform size before uploading.
My PDF is password-protected. Can I merge it?
No. Ghostscript cannot open encrypted PDFs without the password. Remove the password protection first using a PDF unlock tool, then upload the unlocked file. The merge tool returns an error and skips any locked file in the upload.
Does the output preserve hyperlinks and bookmarks from the original PDFs?
Hyperlinks within page content are preserved. Bookmarks (document outline entries) from the individual source files are not merged into a combined outline in the current implementation. If bookmarks are important for navigation, add them manually in Acrobat or a PDF editor after downloading the merged file.
Are my files stored after merging?
The input files and merged output are deleted from the server within 30 minutes of processing. Nothing is retained between sessions. Files are not shared, indexed, or accessible to any other user during or after the session window.
