Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information AT USE collects, how it is used, and how our tools process your data.
Last updated: May 6, 2026
Who we are
AT USE (at-use.com) provides free online tools for image conversion and optimization, video workflows, subtitle workflows, and network diagnostics.
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to data processed on at-use.com, including public pages, tool pages, APIs used by those tools, and our contact form.
Information we collect
1) Data you provide directly
If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, message, timestamp, and source IP address so we can respond and manage abuse.
2) Technical and usage data
We collect technical events needed to operate and improve the service, such as page opens, tool starts/success/errors, request path, status code, response time, and coarse browser/OS type.
Our internal event logs do not store raw user IP addresses. We store a daily rotating hash derived from your IP address and a server secret.
3) Cookies and similar identifiers
We use cookies including:
- at_sid: session identifier for first-party analytics and rate limiting.
- PHP session cookie: supports CSRF protection and form/session flow.
- at_admin: admin-only authentication cookie for authorized admin users.
- Third-party cookies: Google Analytics and Google AdSense may set their own cookies/identifiers.
How tool processing works
AT USE tools use different processing models:
- In-browser processing: Many video/subtitle/media tools process files locally in your browser. For these tools, files generally do not upload to our server.
- Server-side processing: Some tools (for example image conversion and image optimizer flows) require temporary server-side file handling to process and provide downloads.
- Lookup/network tools: DNS and status tools send the domain/URL you provide to perform live lookups/checks.
Because processing paths differ by tool, avoid uploading sensitive personal data unless necessary for your intended use.
How we use information
We use data to:
- operate, secure, and maintain the site and tool APIs,
- measure tool quality and reliability,
- detect abuse, fraud, and service misuse,
- respond to contact requests, and
- support monetization through ads.
Third-party services
We use third-party services including Google Analytics and Google AdSense. These providers may process device and usage data according to their own policies and terms. We may also rely on hosting/infrastructure providers to deliver the service.
Data retention
- Internal event logs: retained for up to 90 days.
- Contact submissions: retained as needed to handle requests, maintain support history, and meet legal/security obligations.
- Tool files: retained only for operational needs (for example, processing and download windows) and then deleted by cleanup routines or manual maintenance.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. We share data only with service providers/processors needed to run the website, provide analytics/ads, secure systems, or comply with legal obligations.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational controls (access controls, validation, logging safeguards, and restricted storage paths). No internet service is 100% secure, so please avoid sending highly sensitive information through public tools.
International processing
Your data may be processed in jurisdictions other than your own, including by third-party providers such as Google, subject to their applicable safeguards.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal data, and to object to some processing. You can also control cookies through your browser settings and ad settings provided by Google.
Children
The service is not directed to children under 13 (or higher age where required by local law). If you believe a child submitted personal data, contact us and we will review and remove it where appropriate.
Policy updates
We may update this policy as tools, integrations, and legal requirements evolve. The latest version is always published on this page with an updated date.
Contact
For privacy questions or data requests, use the contact form on the Contact page and include enough detail for us to verify and process your request.
