About Media Converter

The AT USE Media Converter is a free, browser-based tool for converting audio and video between today's most common formats: MP4, WEBM, MOV, MKV, AVI on the video side; MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC on the audio side. Built on modern browser-native codecs and progressive WebAssembly transcoding for older formats, it is designed for the practical conversions creators and ops people actually need — preparing a screen-recording for upload to a social platform, extracting an audio track from a video, downsizing a hi-bitrate file to email-friendly proportions, or normalising a podcast clip to a consistent loudness. Web-friendly presets handle the right defaults so you do not have to learn ffmpeg flags: "social square 1080p", "podcast mono MP3", "web hero MP4", and so on. For routine conversions the tool runs entirely in your browser, so your media files never leave your device — a meaningful privacy and speed advantage over upload-based services. Like every AT USE tool it is free, requires no account, adds no watermark to the output, and is part of a consistently designed platform that already serves image converters, an image optimizer, and network/DNS utilities. The Media Converter will join the lineup with the same focus on real workflows for creators, marketers, and product teams.

Common use cases

  • Convert a screen recording from MOV to web-friendly MP4 before uploading.
  • Extract an MP3 audio track from a video for podcast publishing.
  • Downsize a hi-bitrate WAV to a smaller MP3 for email delivery.
  • Convert WEBM clips to MP4 for compatibility with older devices.
  • Normalise the loudness of a podcast clip to broadcast levels.

How it will work

  1. Open the Media Converter at /tools/media-converter (available at launch).
  2. Drag and drop one or more audio or video files into the upload zone.
  3. Pick a target format or one of the web-friendly presets.
  4. Click "Convert" and download the converted media when ready.
